Marize Albertyn is visual. 

Whether she is styling a product, crafting a brand identity, designing a room, shooting a wedding with her husband, or setting the table, Marize is known for creating something special out of nothing. 

Everything she touches is layered with intention and detail. 

Across her creative endeavours, Marize is driven by her conviction that mysteries are to be engaged with and that beauty is found in the process of discovery. 

With an interior design degree from Design Time School of Interior Design (Cape Town) and work experience at Sunday Suppers (New York), Marize birthed her design consultancy, She is Visual, in 2015. Beyond her studio work — and as an honest response to her curiosity — Marize often undertakes personal creative projects. From conceptualising the Modern Heirloom — a workshop, conceptual dinner, and venue space — to spearheading Salig — a bespoke bakery and pop-up space — alongside her husband, Marize’s creativity is boundless. Over the years, she’s also collaborated with local makers to create one-of-a-kind product ranges, including Tactile Pieces (2016) with Dear Rae, Mia Melange, and Arrow Leather Goods; fynbos linen (2019) with Beagle & Basset; and Floreer perfume (2020) with Saint d’Ici. 

Led by the gentle whisper in her heart, Marize can take the little things and turn them into big magical moments and memories. But beyond Marize’s bountiful canon of work, she is an exceptional human. She is loving, caring, and kind. And she will always do the right thing (with joy) even when it might be to her disadvantage. Marize believes in doing less but doing it well — and her work (and life) is a golden testament to this. 

Marize lives in Stilbaai with her husband, Jacques, son, James and three cats, Benji, Tilly, and Grace.
